Discover: The secrets of the Lake Cerknica

Everything you wanted to know about our largest intermittent lake, but didn't have a local guide to tell you. Lake Cerknica is a unique global phenomenon. The area changes annually from 0.1 km2 during the drought to 26 km2 when it is flooded. Where does this gigantic amount of water come from? Where does it disappear in the summer-time? What's going on underground? What does all this mean for humans, animals, and plants? 

All these questions will be answered during a 7 kilometres long walk around the hidden and less hidden corners of the lake in the company of local guide Igor Klančar. You will get to know the lake through information points, admire the beautiful views from the observation platforms and explore the most interesting parts of this karst pearl. To make sure you don't get too exhausted, you'll be treated to a homemade snack from the Notranjska okuševalnica at one of the observation platforms.
