Hiking festival: 16th Kunaver's hike

Where the karst landscape transforms into a valley of natural bridges and walking becomes true exploration, a special hiking experience awaits you on the first Saturday of June in the Notranjska Park. 

Take a day for yourself, for movement in nature and good company, and join us on the 16th Kunaver Hike, which will lead you from Rakek over the panoramic Stražnik Hill to the picturesque Rakov Škocjan Valley. The route is suitable for both groups and individuals who enjoy combining hiking, natural heritage, and relaxed socializing. 

Along the way, we will discover unique karst phenomena, natural bridges, and stories of a place that fascinated Prof. Dr. Pavel Kunaver more than a century ago. On his initiative, Rakov Škocjan became Slovenia’s first landscape park in 1949 and remains impressive to this day. 

Before the hike, the day will be enriched with a short cultural introduction. Along the route, there will be opportunities for short breaks and refreshments. In Rakov Škocjan, a warm meal and relaxed social gathering with live music will await us. 

Children will enjoy a playful exploration with a hidden password, and upon successful completion, they will receive a gift. The return to Rakek with guides is planned for the early afternoon (around 14:00). 

You are invited to join us sustainably, also by using public transport. Hikers coming from Ljubljana are encouraged to arrive by train (departure from Ljubljana at 7:59).
